Thanks to your support, Fellowship Southwest is helping Iglesia Bautista Tierra De Oro get immigrants off the streets of Juarez, Mexico.

For several months, FSW has provided funds so that the El Paso church could rent what we thought was a single building across the Mexico-U.S. border in Juarez. Jorge Zapata, associate coordinator of CBF Texas and director of FSW’s Immigrant Relief Ministry, recently traveled to the region and toured IB Tierra De Oro’s immigrant shelters with Pastor Rosalio Sosa.

“It’s not a building; it’s more like a compound,” Jorge reported. “It’s a huge property, with lots of buildings.

“Rosalio said that if we can help with $2,000, we can bring in 20 women and 40 children to the shelter. We already have six Cuban men living there. This place will also have a wood shop, a ladies’ sewing shop and a school to educate the children, which the Chihuahua state government already approved.”

So, we tapped into the FSW Immigrant Relief Fund to provide $2,000 for renovations to the facility. It already is the supply distribution center for IB Tierra De Oro’s 17 shelters across the northern Mexican city.
