Durante el otoño de 2022, Cintia Aguilar dirigió capacitaciones para pastores basadas en las mejores prácticas de trabajo social. Cintia desarrolló este plan de estudios cuando era estudiante interna en el Centro para el Impacto de la Iglesia y la Comunidad (C3I) en la Escuela de Trabajo Social Garland de la Universidad de Baylor. Fellowship Southwest contrató a Cintia para facilitar capacitaciones sobre este tema.

Cintia reflexionó sobre la experiencia de fin de año:

“Mientras reflexiono en este año, estoy agradecida por todas las oportunidades que Dios ha puesto frente a mí. Trabajar junto con FSW facilitando capacitaciones de Trabajo Social 101 para pastores y líderes de habla hispana es una de esas oportunidades. He viajado a diferentes áreas de la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México y he conocido a pastores y líderes increíbles que tienen sus corazones comprometidos con sus comunidades. Pero como todos sabemos, hay límites en cuanto a lo que podemos hacer, límites a la cantidad de lugares que podemos visitar y a la cantidad de personas que podemos conocer en un período de tiempo. Por eso, hoy estoy agradecida por la tecnología y las puertas que ha abierto.

“Para finalizar el año, FSW organizó una capacitación de Trabajo Social 101 para pastores y líderes en línea. La capacitación fue una versión abreviada del plan de estudios que he facilitado en persona durante los últimos meses. Aunque fue una versión más corta, fue una gran bendición tener la oportunidad de compartir un espacio virtual con pastores y líderes de diferentes áreas. Tuvimos pastores y líderes de diferentes áreas de Texas y México que se unieron a nosotros. La tecnología que tenemos hoy nos permitió llegar a pastores y líderes que de otra manera no hubiéramos alcanzado, y por eso estoy agradecida.

“Mirando hacia el futuro, estoy ansiosa por ver las puertas que Dios abrirá para FSW y los pastores a quienes apoyan. Junto con eso, me emociona ver cómo puedo seguir siendo parte de este ministerio, uniendo el reino y la cruz en cada paso que dan.”

Para continuar, Cintia dirigió otra capacitación en persona, el viernes 20 de enero a Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) organizado por Faith Community Health (FCH) Program y capellán Carlos Valencia. Asistieron pastores, ministros y líderes en representación de los nazarenos, adventistas, católicos, no denominacionales, pentecostales y bautistas. También tenían un representante del consulado mexicano.

Fellowship Southwest espera continuar difundiendo esta sabiduría y experiencia a muchos más pastores y líderes de habla hispana este año.

FSW brings "Social Work 101" to pastors around the Southwest

Throughout the fall of 2022, Cintia Aguilar led trainings for pastors in social work best practices. She developed this curriculum as an intern at the Center for Church and Community Impact (C3I) at Baylor University's Garland School of Social Work. Fellowship Southwest contracted with Cintia to facilitate workshops on this topic. 

Cintia reflected on the experience at the end of the year:

"As I look back at this year, I am grateful for all the opportunities God has placed in front of me. Working alongside FSW facilitating Social Work 101 trainings for Spanish speaking pastors and leaders is one of them. I have traveled to different areas of the US-Mexico border and met incredible pastors and leaders that have their hearts dedicated and committed to their communities. But as we all know, there are limits to how much we can do, limits to how many places we can visit and to how many people we can meet in a period. Because of that, today I am grateful for technology and the doors it has opened.

"In December, FSW hosted an online Social Work 101 training for pastors and leaders. The training was a shortened version of the curriculum I have facilitated in person throughout the past few months. It was a tremendous blessing to have the opportunity to share virtual space with pastors and leaders from different areas of Texas and Mexico. The technology allowed us to reach pastors and leaders we might have not otherwise, and for that I am thankful. 

"Looking towards the future I am eager to see the doors God will open for FSW and the pastors they support. Additionally, I am even more eager to see how I can continue to be part of their ministry uniting the kingdom and the cross in every step they take." 

To continue the momentum, Cintia led another in-person training, Friday, Jan. 20, at Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) organized by the Faith Community Health (FCH) program and Chaplain Carlos Valencia. In attendance were pastors, ministers and lay leaders representing the Nazarenes, Adventists, Catholics, non-denominational, Pentecostals and Baptists who participate in Baylor’s FCH program. They also had a representative from the Mexican consulate.

Fellowship Southwest is looking forward to spreading this wisdom and experience to many more Spanish speaking pastors and lay leaders this year.
