Take Urgent Action: Join Faith Leaders to End Injustice at the Border

We are at a critical juncture where our faith and values call us to stand up for justice and compassion. We invite you to join us in a vital advocacy effort alongside various faith-based organizations and religious leaders. Together, we aim to address the injustices perpetuated under Operation Lone Star in Texas.

Operation Lone Star, in effect for over two years, has come under scrutiny for violating the constitution, federal law, and international treaties. Yet, no substantial legal action has been taken against this initiative. Governor Greg Abbott has escalated his unlawful and inhumane actions at the Texas-Mexico border, resulting in documented suffering and loss of life.

The federal judge’s ruling that the buoys must be removed has been stayed pending further ruling from a US Court of Appeals.  That means they can remain as the state begins the appeal process.

Under this operation, tactics such as barbed wire installations along riverbanks have caused severe injuries, including miscarriages, among migrants. Families are being separated through arrests on misdemeanor trespassing charges, a practice previously deemed a "moral and national shame."

We urgently call on you to add your voice to our collective efforts. Join us in signing a letter urging the Biden administration to take swift and decisive action to utilize all available resources and authorities to take legal action against Operation Lone Star. The deadline to join the letter is Friday, September 15th at 5 pm ET.
