Mission project from one church to another
This summer, friends in ministry demonstrate how helping one another in times of need actually helps extend our community ministries to others.
Isa Torres, pastor of Cliff Temple en Español at Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas, and Carlos Valencia and Anyra Cano, pastors at Iglesia Bautista Victoria en Cristo in Fort Worth, already were friends and ministry partners in the DFW community. Isa reached out Carlos after the winter storm damaged many churches in the area, hoping Carlos would connect him to those congregations to see what kind of aid his church could provide.
Instead, Isa discovered Carlos’ and Anyra’s church itself was tremendously affected by the storm. Isa knew if they wanted to help a church, they should help a church that is as involved with its community as Victoria en Cristo.
Thanks to the support of Fellowship Southwest and CBF Texas, Cliff Temple assembled a small team and paid for the materials needed to paint the outside of two of the Fort Worth church’s buildings. This past Saturday, July 24, Cliff Temple en Español team went to Victoria en Cristo, and alongside some of their own members, they completed the project.
“We did something small, but important, for a church that loves its community in very big and important ways,” Isa reported. “We are so thankful we just had to be available to do something, and God uses Fellowship Southwest and CBF Texas to help us do this for these two pastors and their church.”
