Compassion & Justice Advocacy Day 2025
January 2025 brings the start of the 89th Texas Legislative Session. Fellowship Southwest is already planning to be engaged in advocacy in many ways, and we need your voice!
Join us in Austin for Compassion and Justice Advocacy Day. You’ll receive practical advocacy training and then put it into practice by meeting with legislators and their staff to advocate for the issues important to you and FSW.
Please save the date and fill out the form at the button below if you are interested in coming.
When: February 25, 2025
Where: We will gather at First Baptist Church Austin to prepare for advocacy. Then we will walk to the Capitol for legislative appointments, and debrief at a reception at the Raise Your Hand Texas office across the street.
Who: You, your pastor, your faith community, the community you advocate and care for. Students are welcome and conference scholarships will be available.
“As a pastor, I love having this available to my congregation. It’s so helpful to have partners like this who help us expand our ministry efforts.” — Rev. Victoria Robb Powers, Royal Lane Baptist Church
RECENT
Compassion & Justice Conference 2024
Sept. 20-21, 2024
We had a great time with 120 of our closest friends -YOU - at the Compassion & Justice Conference at Life in Deep Ellum in Dallas.
Some highlights:
We raised $6,600 for FSW’s Knox Fund for Immigrant Relief to make sure Pastor Carlos Navarro’s ministry to migrants in Brownsville, Texas, continues to be fully funded. Thank you!
We heard four keynote speakers that blew us away — Mariah Humphries on Native Justice, Cláudio Carvalhaes on Immigration, Jeremy Everett on Hunger, and Sandra Van Opstal on Racial Justice.
Rev. Dr. Cassandra Gould preached for us at a community worship service at Wilshire Baptist Church on Friday night.
And last but not least, Tennessee’s Representative Justin Jones inspired us to “move the stones” that hinder resurrection.
Compassion & Justice Advocacy Day 2023
February 2023
Our first Advocacy Day was a great success. 75 people from across Texas gathered at FBC Austin. We heard from experts that educated us on issues like public education, hunger, immigration and death penalty. We worshipped together and then walked over to the Texas Capitol to share our concerns with legislators and their staff.
