The thing migrants need most when they come here is emotional and spiritual counseling to help them with the trauma they’ve been through.

Piedras Negras

ISRAEL RODRÍGUEZ-SEGURA exudes gentleness and kindness to wary refugees. When they arrive in Piedras Negras, Mexico, across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas, they are worn out, confused and scared. He makes them feel safe and welcome. Pastor Israel leads Primera Iglesia Bautista—First Baptist Church—in Piedras Negras. The congregation started welcoming refugees seeking U.S. asylum when immigration surged several years ago. Since then, Israel has been the face of compassion and Christian love to more than 10,000 immigrants. He works with local officials to coordinate responsibilities and to ensure care for the migrants. And his expression of Jesus’ love has led him to baptize many of them. Please remember to pray for Israel and his wife, Rebeca.
